简介：

      古代兴林国国君妙庄王（刘丹饰），因受灭世魔尊（朱铁和饰）的心魔所制而灭佛，触怒上天，致令独生太子战死沙场，皇后三度临盆亦只诞下女儿。大公主妙心（吴君如饰）性情善妒、二公主妙元（廖安丽饰）怕事懦弱，三公主妙善（赵雅芝饰）生即茹素，如吃到荤食会感到恶心，聪颖巧思，爱国爱民，被妙庄王视为皇位继承人。但妙善生就慧根，崇尚佛法，不慕俗世名利，后更因拜佛而与妙庄王发生冲突，妙善离宫，遁迹佛门。 云天朗（任达华饰）为忠良之后，为报父仇欲杀妙庄王机缘巧合遇妙善，为之倾心，惜妙善一心向佛，坚拒其情意。此时，兴林国大权为国师金龙（谭炳文饰）及大驸马易都雷（戴志伟饰）所把持，民不聊生。妙善不畏艰辛，与天朗上七重天取羊脂白玉瓶以救苍生。国师等联同魔尊千方百计阻止之，妙庄王更不欲负累妙善而自尽。魔尊以妖火焚城，但妙善之杨枝甘露尚未修炼成功，未能抗敌。而妙庄王亦被打下十八层地狱，受恶鬼欺凌，妙善救妙庄王出地狱，妙庄王感到其罪孽深重，愿意十世为牛赎罪，云天朗与妙善，照顾妙庄王投胎的小牛。不过最后还是邪不胜正，妙善顺利消灭魔尊。
