简介：

主角香坂真一郎是活跃在警视厅本厅搜查一课的刑警，并被誉為「未来的搜查一课课长」。為了无法如愿当上搜查一课长，只能做个万年分局刑警的父亲敦史及妻子美沙，也為了自己的前途，香坂以成為搜查一课课长為目标一步一步往上爬。

但是某天，他由於搜调过程中的一个过失，遭到一直都很肯定自己的搜查一课的课长小野田指证，因而被贬到分局。被踢出升官之路的香坂在分局遇到了儘管笨拙，但在面对不起眼的小案件时，却依然秉持正义，拼命地去解决案件的同事们。看到他们的奋不顾身，香坂一边苦恼著何谓身為刑警的使命、何谓正义，也一边相信自己的「正义」，与「犯罪」对峙。
