许氏兄弟以风趣幽默的方式，透过演绎小市民的对话或以趣剧形式，讽刺七十年代香港地的时弊，如盗贼猖獗治安问题、挤逼居住问题、垃圾环境卫生问题、香港人爱面子充阔佬等。

每集除有经典环节“点到你唔服”或“边个够我威”外，许氏兄弟亦在节目内邀请嘉宾接受访问，包括薛家燕、沈殿霞，当中亦有邀请一些“另类嘉宾”接受访问，如：动画鸡、大溪地酋长、柔道高手、穿越时光隧道而来的梁山伯与祝英台等。节目中星光熠熠，嘉宾包括：李翰祥、狄娜、邓碧云、罗文、孟莉、张瑛、凤凰女、西瓜刨、高佬泉等电影明星亦有参与趣剧演出。

许冠杰于每集节目内亦一展歌喉，或请来歌手如叶丽仪、锺玲玲、陈懿德、许冠文…合唱。
