简介：

　剧集以明朝宫廷为背景，描绘当时作为底层人的刽子手和稳婆的爱情故事：
　　杀人无数的刽子手叶常绿（黄德斌饰）为保护恩公的媳妇阮素心（姚子羚饰）顺利产子，将素心安顿在京城享负盛名的稳婆花蕊红（邵美琪饰）家中，因而遇上离奇命案，常绿竟以其鬼头刀救活了一条小生命，谁料这名来历不明的男婴令常绿和蕊红无故卷入朝廷的政治漩涡，一冷一热的配搭化解了一次又一次的危机，两人在患难中渐生情愫……
　　另边厢，一对同在妓院长大的小情侣赤知秋（杨明饰）和祝小满（龚嘉欣饰）来到蕊红家，苦苦哀求常绿收知秋为刽子手的学徒，知秋其心不正，只想藉此逃脱受刑，常绿迟疑不决，一名神秘的彩戏师司马丑（陈山聪饰）出现，令各人关系陷入错综复杂，男婴身分之谜更因而被逐步揭开，但同时敲起了死神的丧钟……
　　《刀下留人》以佛学为切入点，首次以刽子手（古代的死刑执行者）及稳婆（古代帮助产妇分娩者）为题材
